Gene and I were able to get out of the van (from the passenger side door) on our own with considerable difficulty.
Annette was rescued by a passing motorist.
Loni, GiGi and Chris were killed instantly
Gene was admitted to a hospital for observation and convalesced at home.
Annette spent many days in the hospital because of internal injuries. She spent several weeks at home recovering.
I was released from the hospital that evening with a cracked sternum and injuries to my lower legs. I spent almost three months recovering at home. I spent about two years in therapy.
It took three year to settle legations through arbitration
There were a total of seventeen vehicles involved in this accident… we suffered the only deaths and injuries.
The trucking company only had $1.3 million dollars (insurance & disposable assets) to settle all claims. Most of it going to Chris’s wife and his children.
