Nancy spent three days at St. Placid Priory in Lacey, a monastic community of Benedictine nuns, in a silent retreat. Yes, she did maintain silence, and you might be interested in reading her journal, A Journey to Silence. It isn't finished and polished yet, but you can travel with her on the journey anyway!
If you're familiar with the American Girl Doll, you know that if you buy one of their "named" dolls, you may also purchase an assortment of stories about her life, a moral dilemma, her birthday, her life at school, etc. Nancy wrote a story to go with the American Girl Doll we raffled off at our church Trash 'n Treasures sale, and although she has not done any writing for children before, she enjoyed it!
Nancy hasn't written as much as she'd planned, but you can read some of the other things she has written since we've been here -- we won't bore you with the news releases and school district newsletter articles:
The journey to our new home in June, 1998, was a true adventure.
We have enjoyed Solemn Evensong each Monday evening, conducted by the Ecumenical Fellowship of St. John, Benedictine monks who are members of our church.
