Found: Moist areas low to subalpine in western Pacific Northwest.

About: Penstemon is from the Latin and means 'five stamens'.

The corolla has five spreading lobes. The lower three provide a landing pad for pollinating insects.

Many penstemons are used as ornamentals in gardens.
