Found: Open woods and drier meadows in the Cascades.

About: This lily is also known as Mountain Cat's-Ear, for obvious reasons.

The common name, Mariposa, is from the Spanish for butterfly.

Bulbs of the lilies are edible. Lily bulbs in Glacier National Park are dug up by grizzly bears.
