This story came out on the Bloomberg site last month, regarding a federal lawsuit Bloomberg filed against our beloved "FED" in November. The suit seeks no damages, just the recipients of more than $2 trillion of emergency loans from U.S. taxpayers and the assets the central bank is accepting as collateral.

These headlines, both from December of 2008 (pathetic as they are) are not at all surprising. They right in line with what happened just a few months earlier - where "congressional martial law" was declared during bailout legislation, eliminating the normal time allowed for review of the bailout bill's provisions. Members of Congress didn't even know what they were voting on (1) . Believe it or not, there was also talk of a stock market collapse and the possibility of real martial law in the streets of US cities. (2).
Going back to 2007 and 2006 we find similiar signs of desperation in the Military Commissions Act of 2006, the Defense Authorization Act of 2007 and Executive Order 13438. (3) Not only has the stage for martial law been set, but due to these legislative changes, it can now be declared on the President's say so alone and on much more broad terms. Detainment and asset forfeiture have also been placed into the hands of one man. We are witnessing the elimination of congressional and judicial oversight. Indeed, checks and balances and seperation of powers, the very genius of our Constitution and the very essence of Constitutional convention, seem now to be looked upon as a nuisance - as an obstacle. Events forshadowing martial law and power consolidation in the executive branch are a direct result of deteriorating economic conditions in this country, as is unilateral action at the UN. They all smack of desperation. They are all part of a state of the art scramble for loot.
Many believe Obama will come in and reverse all of this. He won't. As soon as Joe Biden's "guaranteed crisis" (6) comes, whatever and whenever that may be, then all bets are off. Obama will have reason to go back on any (of his many) promises. The media continues setting the stage for this - even this morning. (9) And conveniently, Obama will have more power to work with than any of his predecessors. (8)
As of Oct. 1, 2008, there are active troops inside the United States. (4, 5) This is not a positive development, nor are the detention centers that have been built in nearly every state of the union. (7)
Isn't the writing on the wall? I hope everyone is prepared for the obvious and the inevitable. (10)
