Who is Van?

And what does he do?

Website Production

My own projects:

Quotes of the Day, a daily mailing of five or six quotes on a theme. It was supposed to make money, but it was too much fun to stop when it became obvious that it wasn't going to play out that way. Sign up at www.qotd.org.

Twisted History, a daily mailing with a decidedly skewed look at the events that have brought us from the Neanderthal Age to the Network Era. Daily looks at the madness we've been through, birthdays of the famous and infamous, quotes from the giants of the ages. This was also a lot of fun, but took too much time to keep going when there wasn't any income. Archives at www.twistedhistory.com.

The Vanhorn/BYTE Photoshop performance comparison benchmark, the most quoted and credible Macintosh vs. Wintel benchmark available at the time when BYTE was still a magazine and 200 MHz computers ruled the world.

Van's Favorite Pages The links I turn to over and over again, and a few that just made me smile. Okay, they're out of date. I understand there are still folks who find benefit in them so I'll leave them there.

Produced and Hosted:

I also create, and sometimes host, websites for others - I'm just not allowed to talk about that here in the personal pages.

Analysis

I spent a lot of time looking at computer products, mostly in the context of printing and publishing, and wrote for several magazines. I've kept some archives of my work for these three magazines.

Byte Magazine
Screen Printing Magazine
Signs of the Times Magazine
