Where We Live

We live in the town of Clinton
, the first town as you exit the ferry.
Freeland is where
we lived before we finished our house, and where our church is located.
It is about 15 miles up-island from Clinton.
Perhaps the most picturesque town on the south end is Langley
By-the-Sea , where you find eclectic shops, the Whidbey Island Center
for the Arts, and the Whidbey Island Winery.
As you travel north, you find the town of Greenbank
, with the Meerkerk
Rhododendron Gardens, and the Greenbank Loganberry Farm, communally
owned by the residents of Whidbey Island.
At about the mid-point of our 45 mile long island is the city of
Coupeville
, filled with beautifully restored Victorian homes and public buildings
and home of the Captain Whidbey Inn, where innkeepers go when they want
a vacation. Coupeville is a favorite spot for filmmakers, with "Practical
Magic" the most recent film set here.
On the north end of the island is Oak
Harbor , the largest and most commercial of the cities on the island.
North of Oak Harbor is Naval
Air Station Whidbey , and you exit the island on the north end via
Deception Pass Bridge, a national monument which is truly a scenic wonder.
Whidbey Island
is a part of Island County
and, though we are small, Whidbey Island boast six
state parks (South
Whidbey, Fort Casey, Deception Pass, Fort Ebey, Joseph Whidbey, and Keystone
Spit)! In addition to all the other attractions, Whidbey Island is
a popular biking, hiking, boating and fishing destination. We are
conveniently located for trips of a day or longer to the Olympic Peninsula,
the Pacific Coast, Vancouver Island and the city of Victoria, Vancouver,
numerous ski areas, and the Seattle-Tacoma metro area.
