This narrative describes how I use my javascript tool, cataloged in the Math Tools digital library, in the classroom.

Course: Math 7
Topic: Operations with Numbers - Addition
Resource type: JavaScript

Story:  Too often there comes a time when a student is on the verge of mastery if they could just have a few more practice items to reinforce the lesson. This script allows the generation of a worksheet for that student - or a master for a larger group. Since they are presented as web pages, they can be printed in part or whole. Be sure the answers are noted somewhere (e.g., cut-and-paste) for checking the work.

The format allows a degree of control to determine the length of addends (up to 5 digits) and the number of problems (30 max).

Please note that specifying a length means the number will contain that many digits as a maximum. There might be fewer.

Where and how I used this: While there is not much call for an addition worksheet in middle grades, there are those occasions when they are needed. They can also be used for speed drills for calculator, mental math, and estimation practice.
