Spatial Exercises Assignments - Grade 7
(This is a review of the assignments for December 14-21 - this might be useful if you were absent on these dates.)

Using cubic blocks, construct buildings from the building plan.

Here is the list of the assigned building plans: [PLANS]

Draw the top view, the front view and the right view, aligning the figures like the diagram here. This is called an orthographic projection. Do one for each building plan. Here is some graph paper. Please be neat and use a ruler. Label your drawings.

From the building plan, count the number of cubes needed to build the building. Write down the answer and label them as cubic units (un3). This is the volume of the building. Volume is always measured in cubic units.

Using isometic dot paper draw the Front/Right view and the Left/Front view as show in the graphic. These are called isometric projections. Do one for each building plan.

This graphic shows some sample nets. Nets are 2-dimensional layouts that can be folded into 3-dimentional objects. They cannot have overlapping pieces, or any holes. The finished object must be complete on all sides. Your assignment is to make nets for the following shapes using graph paper.

After you have completed these five objects, you are to pick one (1) of the building plans [PLANS] from #2 through #8 and make a net for that building.

Last item. For each net, make a list with the net label and the total number of squares on the net. write the answer using square units or un2. This is the surface area of the 3-dimensional object. Surface area (and all area) is measures in square units.

This is the end of this part of the assignment.
