On-Line Progress Report

These progress reports will be updated as the computer gradebook is updated - usually at least once a week. While I am reasonably sure that these are accurate, I do not have time to check each individual student.

Precautions have been taken to ensure student confidentiality.

If you would like to participate, please e-mail Mr. LeMieux at Oak Harbor Middle School (jlemieux@ohsd.net) to acquire your access code.

Progress Report Guide Mr. LeMieux's Classes 2003-2004

Progress reports will be given to the students to bring to you. You will receive a report every two weeks, usually on Wednesday. I ask that you initial and/or sign the report and send it back for two reasons: it counts as a graded assignment; I have no other way of knowing if you have seen it.

Progress reports are handed to students on alternating Wednesdays. Students are to deliver them to parents and bring back either the signed receipt attached to the report or a note that the parents have seen the report. This is a graded activity and follows the same guidelines as other assignments.

This sample report form contains many examples of possible entries. Most students' reports would contain fewer comments (and, of course, better grades!)

1. DATES: The dates listed on the progress report are the school days since the last report.

2. MISSING ASSIGNMENTS: Assignments are those entries followed by a "0". This report prints missing assignments for the dates shown. Assignment papers received without names, scores, or proper headings are generally considered missing unless the student takes prompt action to fix them. Mutilated (ripped, crumpled, etc.) papers are unacceptable.

Please remember: Late work is NOT usually accepted except as outlined in the letter; there is no make-up work; extra-credit means regular work is completed.

3. COMMENTS: Statements which are not followed by a "0" are comments. Most comments are self-explanatory. Generally, if the comment appears only occasionally it is not a cause for concern. When the same comment is repeated a number of times, it indicates that there might be a problem area. Comments which appear by themselves and do not seem to make sense usually mean that the student has already remedied the situation.

4. GRADING/SCORING: The row of boxes contains the following information: the number of assignments given to the student this quarter; the number of assignments received from the student this quarter; the student's average score on the assignments received (no zeros included); the percentage of the assignments actually received from the student; and last, the scale score. Scale score is a mathematical combination of the percentage of the work received and the average score. It is weighted in favor of participation.

Letter grades are generally based on the scores according to the following formula:

0- 59=F 60-69=D 70-79=C 80-89=B 90-99=A
