After the Internet Explorer cache is cleaned, either by using Tools|Internet Options|General Tab, Delete Files the small file Index.dat remains. This is a listing of the files in the C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files and to thoroughly clean the cache, it should be removed as well.
This little Javascript program makes an entry in the RunServicesOnce key in the Registry which runs a small batch file which deletes Index.dat during bootup. A fresh Index.dat is recreated later in the boot process. The program creates a small file called IECACHE!.BAT in C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Temp which can be deleted.
Instructions for Use
Download the file to your hard disk. Double-click the filename to run the file. Follow the instructions to reboot after the file has run.
