FixPix.inf
The purpose of this program is to restore the default associations of graphics files. In the course of installing various graphics programs the associations the user desires for .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, and .bmp may be "usurped" by the new program. This little program reassociates these files with their default programs--Internet Explorer for the first three file types and MS Paint for .bmp. It will also return the preview function for these files. The file is the creation of Steve Yandl, who has additional files on his Web site here.
Instructions for Use
First, check the DOS name of the path to Internet Explorer. Open Windows Explorer and locate C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer. In the left pane, right-click on the folder icon for Internet Explorer and choose "Properties." Confirm that the DOS name is Intern~1. If so, this program can be used. To use it, save it to the hard drive, right-click on FixPix.inf and choose Install (Do NOT choose Open). Reboot and check graphics files. They should reflect the default association and open in the appropriate program. The Preview function should also have been restored.
