WELCOME TO

THE THOMAS &
MATTHEW ALLYN
FAMILIES
IN

AMERICA

This webpage is dedicated to the development of a perpetual record containing the names and vital statistics of each and every descendant of these two pioneering ALLYN brothers. You are invited to participate in this endeavor!

MORE ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The author of this page has compiled a database, containing over two thousand names, of direct descendants of both Thomas and Matthew Allyn, who immigrated from Braunton, Devon, England in 1637. Thomas stayed in Barnstable, Mass. while Matthew soon removed to Connecticut to raise his family there. The list presently contains an unbroken line of descendants from Matthew to many present generation families throughout the U.S.A., as well as unbroken lines of descendants of Thomas, right through many present generation families located throughout the U.S. and Canada. Female family members are also listed, along with their spouses and their immediate issue.

If you are interested in learning more about this project, as well as participating in it's future expansion, I invite you to further explore this page. All participants will share in the data, present in the database as it now exists, as well as all future additions. Each contributor has given his or her permission to distribute the included data for non-commercial useage. For privacy reasons, the following truncated files show only those persons born before 1930 +/-.

PLEASE CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS.
If you know that you are a descendant of either of the two brothers, choose the first button to send email to the author. We can then begin a dialog regarding the sharing of information.
If you are unsure of your possible connection to these two brothers, choose the second button. This will access a database showing approximately 1000 descendants with the surname ALLYN or ALLEN, along with their families. To allow viewers, without any particular software possession, access to my file, I have recorded this database as a text file. Without the proper formatting, it is a little difficult to read. However, with a little practice, it can be read. Just scroll down to examine the data.
If you possess any genealogy software, choose the third button which will download a Family Tree Maker file in the GEDCOM format, which can then be opened in your particular software. The record begins with Nicholas Allyn, born in England in 1563.
